Troubleshooting Wi-Q Gateway Connection to LP4502

Wi-Q Gateway (WQXM-PG) Interface page communication status

Connection Missing:

This indicates that the gateway cannot communicate with Over-Watch on the LP4502 panel. Things to check during this state include:

  • Panel power and network connectivity - Can you ping the LP4502 panel?
  • Gateway network connectivity - Can you ping the Wi-Q gateway Address?
  •  Ensure that Over-Watch is installed and configured on the LP4502 panel - Login to LP4502 and look for the Overwatch tab.
  • Validate that the Over-Watch configuration in the Wi-Q Gateway Interface page matches exactly what is configured in the LP4502
  • Validate the IP address configured for Over-Watch in the Wi-Q Interface page matches the IP address of the LP4502 panel
  • • Ensure that both the Wi-Q Gateway and the LP4502 panel are configured with the same certificate – either the default or the customer/dormakaba provided.
  • Ensure port 1883 (or the configured port) is open on the customer network
  • Ensure the IP addresses for the Wi-Q Gateway and the LP4502 panel are either on the same subnet or the customer network allows routing between the subnets.

With Wi-Q gateway (WQXM-PG) firmware version 4.1.0.9 or later, the TEST CONNECTION button can be used to assist with basic connectivity. When the button is pressed, the gateway will validate that the IP address and the port of the LP4502 panel are reachable. One of three responses will be shown:

Action Successful – Connection is available: This indicates that the IP address and port are good. The communication status should change to Yellow – Connection In Progress when this configuration is used.

Action Error – Ping Failure. Check IP Address.: This indicates that the specified IP address of the LP4502 panel could not be reached. Check that the LP4502 panel is powered on, connected to the network, configured with the correct IP address, and ensure the IP addresses for the Wi-Q gateway (WQXM-PG) and the LP4502 panel are either on the same subnet or the customer network allows routing between the subnets.

Action Error – Bad or Blocked Port. Check Port Number.: This indicates that the specified port number could not be accessed. Check that the port number entered matches the port number configured in the LP4502 panel Over-Watch page. Ensure that the customer network is not blocking this port. Ensure that the specified IP address is for the LP4502 panel and not for some other device on the customer network.

Connection In Progress

The Wi-Q Gateway and Over-Watch in the LP4502 are properly communicating with each other. Either the PremiSys is not communicating to the SCP in the LP4502 panel, or the SCP is not communicating with the Over-Watch add-in in the panel. This is generally a configuration issue in the PremiSys software.

  • Ensure the LP4502 is online in the PremiSys software.
  • Validate the IP address for the LP4502 is properly configured in the PremiSys software.
  • Ensure the Communication Address in the Host Comm page of the LP4502 Web UI is what is configured in the PremiSys software.
  • Ensure port 6005 (or the configured Host Communication port) is open on the customer network
  • Ensure the IP addresses for the PremiSys server and the LP4502 panel are either on the same subnet or the customer network allows routing between the subnets.
  • Validate that the PremiSys software is configured to use the same Data Security mode as configured in the Host Comm page of the LP4502 panel.
  • Validate that the Over-Watch configuration in the PremiSys software matches exactly what is configured in the LP4502.
  • Validate that the MAC address of the gateway is properly configured in the PremiSys software under the properties of the gateway in hardware configuration.

Connection Established

Only when the SCP is sending configuration data to the SIO through the broker will the status change to the green “Connection Established”.
